Other Interests
Australian architecture – As a Brazilian national now living in Australia, I am very interested in exploring Australian materials and techniques. I am also interested in bringing some of the skills and techniques from Brazil to Australia as the two countries share similar climates.
Sustainable design of social housing – Worked on the design of a modular unit made from reclaimed truck containers that could be composed into livable spaces as part of a larger community. Would like to continue research in this area to help address the growing public housing issue in my home city of Joao Pessoa in Brazil and the rest of the world.
Industrial kitchens and cooking – Completed 6 month International Cuisine Chef certification, including an internship at the Littoral Hotel in Joao Pessoa, Brazil. Supervised the hotel kitchen production, introduced new cooking techniques and added a number of new recipes to the menu. University thesis was a detailed analysis of an industrial kitchen in a 400-seat “churrascaria” style restaurant.
Languages – Taught English to Brazilian students in primary school and interested in teaching Portuguese in Australia.
